I love the flowers and new life of spring as well as the colors and first hints of cool nights in the fall.

Beyond being my personal favorites, I like spring and fall because churches reach many more people during these seasons. A chart would look much like a "two humped camel". This is our season.

In April, we celebrate the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. It is called Easter, but the Jews called that weekend "Passover".

Without the sacrifice of the "passover lamb" in Egypt, (including the smearing of the blood in the form of a cross on the top and both sides of the door frame)... the first born Jews would have died on the eve of their exodus from Egyptian slavery.

Today, only belief in the "lamb of God" who died for our sins on the cross and His resurrection three days later can free a person from "eternal bondage".

We have been privileged to share this "good news" of Christ. In the midst of bad news, "the good news" looks so much better.

Being born a sinner, we are without hope and without excuse. We find that Jesus died for sinners just like us. By faith alone in His sacrificial death and victorious resurrection, we can find abundant, eternal life in Christ.

God has called us and provided great resources. WILL WE HEAR AND RESPOND? YES! Because our calling is for "souls saved... lives changed... and hearts renewed."

New Website and Better Communication

For months I have been thinking and talking about something called "PCBC Mobile". We talk about spiritual fires, revival fires, etc. but we LITERALLY had smoke from an electrical fire on Sunday AM. I am so thankful that our people reacted quickly, dealt with the fire in the meter base and all of our people got out of the building safely. What a blessing!

Yet with all the excitement, I ended the day feeling empty. I prayed all week toward the message and the invitation and when the service was interrupted, it left an empty spot.

Several gave words of encouragement..."you set the house on fire today preacher", "you preached fire and brimstone today...", "you brought down fire from heaven".

As we now move toward our next services, my prayer is that Jesus will be magnified. We will learn from this situation. There are no accidents with God... God is never surprised.

Pray for us as we seek to roll-out "PCBC Mobile"... web based communication tools that will broaden our communication capabilities and opportunities to collaborate and win the lost in our community and multiply churches around the world.

Beginnings...

I guess everything has a beginning except God. Today I enter the world of blogging and hopefully it will open new opportunities for feedback, conversation, and reaching out to new people with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Without a doubt, I feel that God has blessed our church, Proctors Chapel Baptist Church, with a mandate to reach our community for Jesus. Just how He wants us to do that is the wonder of the journey. We have other churches locally who feel the same call and I say "praise God."

Today I began a practice that I hope to continue called "prayer driving". Since most of our community is semi-rural, this is more effective than "prayer walking". My heart's desire is that many people will take a serious look at their future and realize their need for Jesus Christ. As I drive, I prayed, I asked God to deal with the hearts of the people in each home and to deal with my heart regarding their needs.

Well, that's a start.

Lord, please open my heart to the needs of my community and the specific needs of individuals. May my heart be broken for souls that need to be saved. All around me are messed up families, and young people that desire fulfillment through drugs, sex, gangs, etc. Please break my heart for these and others. Just how desperate am I? How open am I? How willing am I? Speak to me... In Jesus name, Amen
